Carowinds Height Requirements 2026 — Every Ride
SaveLast updated: March 1, 2026
Carowinds straddles the North Carolina–South Carolina border near Charlotte and is the premier theme park of the Carolinas. The park is home to Fury 325 — one of the tallest and fastest giga coasters in the world — along with Copperhead Strike, Intimidator, and other world-class coasters. As a Cedar Fair park, Carowinds offers a mix of intense thrill rides and family attractions, plus the Carolina Harbor water park.
How Carowinds Measures Height
Carowinds uses measuring sticks at ride entrances. Guests may wear shoes but must remove hats. The park does not issue wristbands — your child will be measured at each ride. As a Cedar Fair park, Carowinds follows the same measurement standards as Cedar Point and Kings Island.

Key Height Thresholds at Carowinds
Carowinds has 13 active rides. Only 0 have no height requirement. The 48-inch mark is critical at Carowinds, unlocking many signature coasters. At 54 inches, guests can ride Fury 325 and the park's most extreme attractions. Family coasters and flat rides are available at lower thresholds.
Carowinds offers a Rider Swap program at rides with height requirements. The Carolina Harbor water park is included with admission and has its own height requirements, generally lower than the main park coasters. Fury 325 often has shorter waits in the evening.
